MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Miss Rodeo North Dakota Pageant is held each year in conjunction with the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo, hosted by the Minot Y’s Men’s Committee, in Minot. This year, two young women are vying for the prestigious title, Becky Binstock, 20, of South Heart and Callie Lee Enander, 23, of Fargo. The pageant will begin Thursday, October 3rd, with coronation prior to the rodeo performance on Sunday, October 6th.
The current Miss Rodeo North Dakota, Kara Berntson of Kulm, has traveled 30,000 miles across the country promoting the western lifestyle thanks to her many sponsors, including a Chevy truck sponsored by Wilhelm Chevrolet of Jamestown.
“By having the platform of Miss Rodeo North Dakota, I have traveled to schools and youth groups across [the] state to instill the importance of being a leader and a volunteer in our communities,” Berntson stated. She will represent North Dakota is the annual Miss Rodeo America Pageant, held in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo this December.
The contestants will compete in many categories, such as horsemanship, public speaking, modeling, and a written test. Both contestants are excited for the possibility of traveling as the next Miss Rodeo North Dakota.
“Along with spreading positivity and kindness, I would share my passion for the western lifestyle, teaching others the importance of agriculture, ranching, and the sport of rodeo,” commented Binstock, who will represent the White Earth Valley Saddle Club at the pageant.
“I want to be a positive influence on younger generations and help keep the sport of rodeo alive,” Enander added, who is the representative from the North Dakota Winter Show & Rodeo.
Public pageant events include a Pageant Brunch held at the Grand Hotel Saturday, October 5th at 9 AM CT and the Best of the West Vendor Fashion Show at the State Fair Grounds later that afternoon at 4:30 PM.
