NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The Valley City State cross country teams had eight runners compete Saturday at the St. Olaf Invitational.

The Viking women finished the women’s 6K race in 11th place with five runners competing. Three Vikings raced the men’s 8K race.

Kirsten Ranke was the top Viking finisher as she placed 49th overall in the women’s 6K, crossing the line in a time of 27:01.5. Avery Vasicek took 82nd in a time of 29:27.9, while Tanya Campos (30:14.8) was 90th and Brook Tibke (30:26.1) was 92nd. Terese Kuhbacher (32:25.7) finished just a few spots back in 101st place.

On the men’s side, Jayden Wheeling placed 66th overall in a time of 30:11.3, while Govani Garza was just three spots back in 69th place with a time of 30:19.7. Wolley Tuala placed 124th with a time of 36:32.

Up next: Valley City State will race its nearest competition of the season as the Vikings compete at the Jimmie Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4, in Jamestown.
