HAZEN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After just three games as a Hi-Liner, Max Fehr has established himself as the workhorse running back, Friday night was no different. Fehr carried the ball 32 times and led a ground attack that had 290 yards rushing as Valley City rained on the Hazen Bison homecoming with a 14-7 win.

After a one hour and 22 minute weather delay, it took Valley City three plays and 1:25 of clock time to punch in the first score of the game. Tate Sufficool scored on a one yard run with 7:27 to go in the first half. The touchdown came after the game was stopped with 8:42 to go in the half and the Hi-Liners had a third and two from the Bison five.

Lightning, thunder then heavy rain put a hold on the game that resumed after a short warm up by both teams.

Fehr had 194 yards to lead the Hi-Liners. Mitchell Taylor added 72 yards on 16 carries. For the game, the Hi-Liners had 57 rushes and only three passes. Sufficool added a five yard touchdown pass to Benton Murray with 1:08 to go in the half to break the 7-7 tie, Austyn Thornton added the extra point for the final tally.

Hazen got on the board on the ensuing drive after the Hi-liners first score. They would go 81 yards in 2:49, with the last 35 coming on Tyson VanInwagen touchdown run. Soma Antoni would add the extra point to tie the game at 7. VanInwagen led the Bison with 60 yards on 6 carries.

The Hi-Liners improve to 2-2 on the season and will travel to Kindred next Friday night with a date with the Vikings.
