streetlight

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph informed city officials on Thursday, September 19th about a delay in the streetlight installation process for the Central Avenue Streetscape Phase I project.

He said the streetlight pole manufacturer did not send the city correctly configured light poles per the shop drawings provided to them. As a result the contractor has stopped all installation of the streetlight poles on Central Ave. A plan is being developed with the manufacturer to correct the situation but no timeline to continue the installation of streetlight poles has been established at this time.

He said more details will be released later about the installation timeline once we get an update from the construction engineering firm of KLJ.

Schelkoph said, “this is most disappointing from the city’s perspective. It’s been a long summer of street construction and great patience has been given to the city from our citizens during the construction phase of the project.”

He added that the final installation of the streetlights will happen, it is just a question of when this will happen.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause the citizens of Valley City.”
