VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Learn how individuals can step up within their community to promote social justice and combat racism and prejudice on Thursday, September 19, at 7 pm. The presentation, entitled ‘Choosing to Participate: Social Justice Is Not a Spectator Sport”, will take place at the Barnes County Museum, 315 Central Avenue North in Valley City.
The presentation will be given by Nick Archuleta, President of North Dakota United in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service that has provided posters that explore the history and impact of racism and prejudice in our country, and encourages viewers to consider the consequences of everyday choices, and to make a difference in their own communities. Archuleta will explore how the world has become more interconnected and initiate discussion on steps that people can take to create positive social change.
Nick Archuleta has served as the President of North Dakota United since the merger of the North Dakota Education Association (NDEA) and North Dakota Public Employees Association (NDPEA) in 2013. He is a graduate of Valley City High School and has a bachelor’s degree from Valley City State University as well as master’s degree from the University of North Dakota. In 2017 he received a Certificate of Merit from VCSU Alumni Association for his accomplishments and service.
This presentation will also be the kickoff of season 21 of the Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series!
