JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A missing man was found dead in a rural area of Stutsman County Friday.
Authorities recovered the body of Gage Laper, 20, in the Windsor area according to Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser.
Kaiser said Laper was pulled from a body water near a sluice at 10:30 a.m. and foul play isn’t suspected in his death at this time.
Laper was reportedly driving to Colorado when his car got stuck in mud Sunday.
Kaiser said Laper called his mother notifying her he couldn’t move and she tried making arrangements for a tow truck, however, they lost contact.
Laper’s cell phone was recovered Thursday along a property’s fence line.
Federal and state agencies assisted the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office in the department’s effort to locate Laper.
Kaiser said Laper has no ties to North Dakota.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of his death.
