JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – It was a rainy Saturday morning, but that didn’t deter some from coming out to bike and walk the popup path created in Jamestown.

The event came following a grant awarded by the AARP Community Challenge Grant program. Diane Billy is a representative of AARP North Dakota.

Billy says the project was key for community growth, stating that a healthier community is a more caring community.

The path created started at the Two Rivers Activity Center and went west on 5th St. NE before going North along 12th Ave. NE, crossing Highway 20, and ultimately connecting with the Jamestown Reservoir Trailhead.

Central Valley Health Unit Administrator Robin Iszler stated they were looking for community input to see if the public wanted them to work on making this a permanent path in the future.

Jamestown City Councilman Dave Steele joined in the event. As an avid bicyclist, he pointed out that creating a trail like this in Jamestown could be beneficial in the future.

Community member Ricki Ramlo walked a portion of the path before giving her input. She stated it was a wonderful thing and she would love to see it become a permanent path.

The event will take all community input and use it to pursue future grants and funding in order to establish and create more paths in Jamestown.
