BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says nearly 100 North Dakotans have lost more than $2 million so far this year due to scams.

KFYR-TV reports most cash was lost to victims sending large amounts of money to scammers pretending to be in an online romance.

Other instances include cash prize or over payment compensation scams. Stenehjem says in many cases, victims gave access to bank accounts and Social Security numbers.
