OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- An Oakes man was sentenced to one year in prison on a Class C Felony charge of Luring a Minor by Computer or electronic device but will serve a fraction of the sentencing.

According to a criminal complaint, 34 year-old Ryan Lee Marthaller sent messages to a 13 year-old girl in June of 2018 asking for nude photos and then sent sexually explicit messages while asking for nude photos.

Southeast District Court Judge Daniel Narum sentenced Marthaller to serve 30 days in jail minus 4 days already served. He may serve the remaining 26 days on house arrest or work release with the remain sentence suspended. Once he’s released he’ll be on probation for five years. Marthaller was also ordered to pay $525 in court fees during his August 27th sentence hearing in the Dickey County Courthouse in Ellendale, ND.
