(NewsDakota.com) – Incumbents ruled the day during the June 12 election in Stutsman County.

Jamestown City Council member Charlie Kourajian was re-elected to his seat on the city council, and will be joined by Steve Brubakken and Dan Buchanan, who also won Jamestown City Council seats on Tuesday. Brubakken was the top vote getter, followed by Kourajian and Buchanan.

On the Jamestown School Board, incumbents Diane Hanson and Gail Martin both were re-elected, and will be joined by Roger Haut and Terry Anderson, who also won school board positions. Hanson, Martin and Haut all won city seats. Anderson won the lone rural seat up for election.

In the District 12 Republican primary, Bernie Satrom defeated Dwaine Heinrich 1,068 to 825 for the right to represent District 12 republicans during the North Dakota Senate race in November.

Stutsman County voters also overwhelmingly voted against Measure 2, which would abolish property taxes. 4,031 ‘no’ votes were cast in Stutsman, compared to just 1,010 ‘yes’ votes.

A total of 5,151 votes were cast in Stutsman County. Results are unofficial until the canvassing board meets later this week.
