JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Big Guns of the Old West will be present at the annual event at Fort Seward Saturday, September 7th.

Fort Seward Interpretive Director Jennie Marks says the popular event is back and will feature a full day of things for people to do and see.

At 3 PM, there will be a live demonstration of a real Howitzer cannon and Gatling gun that would have been used at the fort in the 1800’s.

Marks says last year there was a large crowd, so they’ve adjust the event to ensure there’s enough room for all.

The event runs from 10 AM to 3 PM. Marks also encourages anyone to stop by and view their soldier garden and pumpkin patch, both of which are ready for the fall.

Another item Marks pointed out was a new “Be Our Star” campaign. She says they’ve needed to replace the Fort’s flag several times this year.

The largest flag on the largest flagpole in North Dakota flies Saturday at Fort Seward.

Marks says the one time $50 donation will go towards the purchase of a new flag. Donations can be dropped off at the Fort Seward Interpretive Center or mail them to:
