On Friday, August 16, 2019, Steven John Huebner, loving husband, father, papa, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 63.
Steve was born on December 19, 1955 in Jamestown, ND to Gordon and Gloria (Wright) Huebner. After he attended school at Jamestown High School, Steve joined the U.S. Army in 1974. In 1978 he discharged out of the Army and enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he served until 1987. He was very proud of his service and had a great love for his country.
On August 24, 1974, Steve married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Roberta Jo Odness. They were looking forward to their 45th wedding anniversary. Together they had 2 children, Christopher and Danielle. He loved his children and adored his grandchildren Nicholas, Lily, and Jozie.
Steve worked for Stutsman Rural Water as an Operator for 26 years before retiring in 2017. He was a Class 4 in Water Treatment (which is the highest you can achieve) and a Class 2 in Distribution. He was very proud of these accomplishments. Steve loved being out of the office and in the field visiting, working with, and helping all his Rural Water Customers.
Steve had a love for old cars, and recently finished rebuilding his 1974 AMC Javelin. Though it wasn’t his dream car, a Ford Mustang, he cherished his “Jav” and loved taking it to car shows and talking about it with anyone who would listen and even some who didn’t want to listen! He was a member of The Jamestown Classic Car Club and The James Valley Street Machines. His car was recently chosen to be in the James Valley Street Machines 2020 Calendar, and he was very proud of that. He also enjoyed woodworking and working on old computers. He was always building or tinkering with something in his garage. He was always willing to help out anyone in need, so much so, that he would even go driving around after a snowstorm looking for people to pull out of the snow!
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Gordon, his mother, Gloria, his step-mother, Helen.
He is survived by his wife, Jo, his son Chris (Ashley) Huebner, his daughter, Dani (Kerry) Helton, grandchildren, Nicholas Huebner, Lily Helton, and Jozie Helton. His brother Stan (Judy) Huebner; sister Lynette (Joey) Eversvik; sisters-in-law, Patty (Lee) Todnem, Mikki (Paul) Schlosser, Kelly (Dave) Idso, and Teresa (Loren) Krueger; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August, 20, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown. A memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristi Weber officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
