JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It was a resounding vote for an outdoor pool or water park in the recent Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department survey.
Created by University of Jamestown student Leslie Stevens, the survey was conducted in June and asked participants to rate different parts of the department. The survey would help the department in providing and preserving the highest quality of parks and program services for Jamestown.
According to the survey, 546 total responses were collected. More than 65% of the respondents stated they wanted an outdoor pool or water park.
The Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) is currently working towards funding an outdoor water feature which will be located outside of TRAC.
The public was also asked to rate the value of public parks, recreation programs, trails and facilities in Jamestown and more than 82% voted positively.
The survey also showed that the Parks & Rec Department’s greatest strengths included the Two Rivers Activity Center, programs and activities, Jack Brown Stadium, Hillcrest Golf Course, and youth sports.
The survey also found parks in the area had the greatest opportunity for improvement.
The Jamestown Parks & Recreation Board will look at board development activities, better communication with staff, and consider hiring a human resources staff member.
