HAZEN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2019 American Legion State Class B Baseball Tournament was held at Slinde Field in Hazen on Wednesday, here are the results:

Carrington 12 Hazen 2, 6 innings
The Astros of Hazen Post 189 scored the first two runs of the ballgame in the top of the first inning but it was all Carrington after that. In the bottom of the first inning, Kyle Leapaldt hit a 3-run home run to take a 3-2 lead. Leapaldt came to bat in the home half of the third inning and took a 3-1 pitch with two outs over the left field wall for another dinger. Later, he would get intentionally walked during his third plate appearance in the fifth and then in the sixth inning he would go deep again, another 3-run home run for his third home run of the game. He ended with seven RBI, scored four times and was 3-for-3 at the plate. Carrington Post 25 had a total of 15 hits, Lucas Geiszler and Drew Page also had three hits each. Page picked up the victory on the mound working four and a third innings, 75 pitches, one earned run, five strikeouts and one walk. Geiszler came in and worked an inning and two-thirds. Payton Leintz took the loss, working four and two-thirds on 97 pitches, six earned runs, four strikeouts, 10 hits and two walks. Carrington improves to 24-7 overall, Hazen drops to 15-8 overall.
