CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) (Information submitted by Kyle Hewitt) Day three of the District 4 Legion Baseball tournament continued at Carrington City Park on Friday with another four games and three teams eliminated, here are the results:
Rolla Post 235 12 Harvey Post 28 2 (6 innings)
Rolla scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed after that defeating Harvey 12-2 in 6 innings. Xavier Mitchell threw all six innings to pickup the win for Rolla. Mitchell struck out 8 batters and walked 3. Mitchell also went 3-4 at the plate, scored 2 runs, and had 2 RBI. Trevor Decoteau, Conner Beck, and Andre Elick all had 2 hits for Rolla. Harvey’s Gage Balfour took the loss on the mound and went 2-4 at the plate. Harvey finished the season 5-17.
Kidder County Post 231 10 Cando Post 79 2
Kidder County took advantage of 9 Cando errors and cruised to a 10-2 victory in the elimination game. Kidder scored 5 runs in the first inning and 6 players record 2 hits in the game (Parker Hager, Taren Schmidt, Ty Biesterfeld, Blake Pfaff, Ross Schneider, and Elijah Fallgatter). Blake Pfaff was the winning pitcher and 7 strikeouts. Cando had six hits in the game, Hayden Hagler was the only player with more than 1 hit, going 2-4. Cando finished the season at 13-8 overall.
Carrington Post 25 4 New Rockford Post 30 0
Kyle Leapaldt struck out 14 batters and Carrington scored 3 insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an Ethan Buskness RBI single and Payton Smith’s 2 run double. Carrington scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first on Drew Page’s RBI infield single that scored Lucas Geiszler who reached on an error and advanced to third base on another error and a wild pitch. New Rockford starting pitcher Tucker Longnecker allowed just 3 hits in the game, recorded 5 strikeouts, 6 walks, and hit one batter. New Rockord threatened to score in the first inning but left runners at second and third. Bo Belquist was thrown out at home in the third inning on an attempted steal of home that halted a potential scoring chance. Leapaldt allowed just 3 hits as well and allowed just 1 walk and 1 hit batter.
Kidder County Post 231 5 Rolla Post 235 2
Kidder County eliminated Rolla 5-2 in the final game of the day. Parker Hager pitched 6 strong innings allowing 2 unearned runs and giving up 6 hits. Hager struck out 9 batters and allowed just 1 walk. Jayden Rath, Hager, and Jacob Nolan all had 2 hits to lead Kidder County offensively. Tommy Thompson went 1-3 and drove in 2 runs. Trevor Decoteau went 3-3 with 2 RBI to pace Rolla’s offense. Rolla finished the season 7-11 overall and Kidder County will play New Rockford at 12:00 with the winner to play Carrington in the championship 30 minutes after. Carrington would have to be beat twice in the championship.

230pm – Carrington vs. 12pm game winner (first championship) (if Carrington loses, then winner take all game on Sunday at 2pm)
