BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Earlier this week, the North Dakota Game & Fish Department announced the completion of one of the largest fish stocking efforts in the history of the agency.
Crews stocked 140 lakes across the state with more than 11 million walleye fingerlings from the Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery.
Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier states the stocking efforts have also led to the creation of dozens of fish hatcheries across the state.
Leier says this creates a great future for fishing in the state.
With that in mind, Leier says anglers can visit gf.nd.gov to view what lakes and waters have been stocked and with what times of fish.
Leier says you can “scout” different fishing sites ahead of time before enjoying the great outdoors.
You can listen to Doug Leier every Thursday at 7:35 talk the Great Outdoors with JD in the Morning on Big Dog 95.5 FM.
