DAZEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents have banded together to pump water out of several basements in the city of Dazey after a torrential rainfall hit the city about 4:15am on July 17th.
Barnes County Emergency Manager Sue Lloyd said residential water has been shut down until Thursday, July 18th being the city lift station cannot keep up with the demand.
The community center is open for residents until 10pm on Wednesday, July 17th to get clean up kits provided by the American Red Cross, bottled water for city residents and porta potties are also available until further notice.
The mayor of Dazey, Justin Sherlock said about 4 to 5 inches of rain hit the city fast and now residents are working together to pump the water out into a nearby slew.
Sherlock said it will be interesting to find out what the official rainfall total will be after the month of July is completed. He said the city has had three other rain shower earlier this month where 3 to 4 inches of rainfall was reported on three separate occasions.
