JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A local woman is taking part in the national Miss Earth USA beauty pageant June 25th through July 1st in Las Vegas.
Jana Vetter was nominated to represent South Dakota in the competition.
Originally from Harvey, Vetter calls Jamestown home. She says the South Dakota title is appointed because they don’t have a state pageant.
Vetter says her platform is “Bee the Change” with a focus on advocating for animals.
Vetter says this includes raising awareness of deforestation and more because of their effect on the animals. She says she’s never been in pageants before and has never traveled, so the is looking forward to the experiences awaiting her on the trip.
Vetter says those who want to learn more about her and follow her on her trip are encouraged to like her Facebook page or follow her on Instagram at Miss South Dakota Earth.
