JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man has been arrested early Wednesday in Jamestown on outstanding warrants after he failed to halt and attempted to flee in a vehicle.

Jamestown Police Officers and Stutsman County Deputies were informed that Howard Larson Jr. was spotted in the area of McElroy Park Tuesday evening.

“Stutsman County Sergeant Damian Hoyt located Larson in the McElroy Park area and attempted to stop Larson,” Jamestown Lt. Sid Mann reports. “Larson fled from Hoyt on foot into the wooded area south of the river. A perimeter was set up and additional personnel were brought in to search the wooded area including JFD’s bloodhound, Chloe, and her handler, Chief Reuther.”

During the search a Jamestown Police Detective located Larson in a vehicle in SE Jamestown on the edge of the eastern perimeter. A Stutsman County Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle.

Larson fled in the vehicle towards Ypsilanti before the car was disabled by spike strips and Larson was subsequently taken into custody.

Larson was transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Formal charges are pending. The Jamestown Police Department, Jamestown Fire Department, and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department were assisted by ND Game and Fish in the search.
