JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents of Jamestown could see the first billing for Stormwater Utility in August.

AE2S came before the Finance & Legal Committee Tuesday evening to discuss the latest with the Stormwater Utility program. Shawn Gaddie presented to the council, stating they’ve begun to finalize the parceling to create the fee.

Gaddie stated the one of the final things needed from the committee was creating the government and education rate adjustments. At the current rate, AE2S reports that a total of $595,872 in additional revenue would be created.

Gaddie says the committee would need to consider a rate reduction for those government and education entities.

If the rate reduction was approved for those entities, only $512,758 in revenues would be generated for the year.

Councilperson Dan Buchanan stated that there shouldn’t be a reduction in service costs for those entities.

City Administrator Sarah Hellekson stated that previous Mayor Katie Anderson and former Administrator Jeff Fuchs stated the original plan with the fee was to not have any restrictions for certain entities.

The committee approved of the fees, but denied a 50 percent reduction for those entities.

In other business, the committee denied the request from S & R Truck Plaza to amend Sec. 2-25 of the City Code to allow off-sale beer at gas stations.

The Civic Center and Promotion Committee also approved to enter a lease agreement with Carr Enterprises to lease an ATM at the Jamestown Civic Center.
