KIDDER COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Game & Fish Department fisheries personnel recently tagged approximately 2,000 walleye in Alkaline Lake in Kidder County west of Streeter.
This, along with 3,000 tagged walleye in Lake Sakakawea, will be helping enhance the understanding of the proportion of fish that anglers harvest each year.
Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says anglers who catch a tagged fish are encouraged to treat it like any other.
Leier says information and a QR code are posted at the lake for anglers to get more information. This will allow them to report it there or on the Game & Fish department’s website. If the fish is released, anglers are reminded not to remove the tag.
Along with that, Leier encourages people to get out and fish. He says there’s a lot of birding opportunities and fishing reports are picking up.
