VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Grace Scherr and Becca Thompson are not quite done yet with their high school softball careers. Both Hi-Liners will be playing in the Scheels All-Star Series which will be played in Fargo and Bismarck this week.
The two seniors are coming off the State Softball tournament where they helped Valley City to a third place finish. The Hi-Liners defeated Bismarck Century 12-9 in the Third Place game on Saturday in Minot.
Scherr was named to the All-Tournament team after going 12 for 14 at the plate with five runs scored and six rbi in the three games. She also stole 10 bases in the tournament. Thompson was 3 for 11 with four runs scored and five rbi for the tournament.
The two are coming off stellar senior seasons for the Hi-Liners. Scherr led the team in hits (55), singles (43), triples (8), runs (41), average (.611), OBP (.653), SLG (.833) and OPS (1.487). She also second in RBI with 28.
Thompson hit .359 on the season with 2 home runs and 25 rbi. She was third on the team in hits (33) and rbi. She was tied for the team lead in walks with 11.
The 2019 SCHEELS Softball All-Star Series will be played in Fargo on Monday, June 3rd at Mickelson Park and in Bismarck, June 4th at Starion Bank Turf Field at the Scheels Sports Complex.
Game one in Fargo with be at 5:30pm with a second game to follow. Game three on Tuesday will be at 5:30pm. The rosters consist of players from both Class A and Class B in an East vs. West format.
