JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Showing up to as many games as possible, it’s easy to say Jim Christ was Jamestown High School’s biggest fan.
Tuesday afternoon, athletes and coaches all showed their appreciation. A memorial car wash on Tuesday, May 28th was held in honor of Jim, who passed away in the fall of 2018.
Coach Kelley Kessler says Christ attended virtually all home Blue Jay games. He says when they learned that his grave didn’t have a headstone, they came up with the idea for a fundraiser.
Teams from Volleyball to Tennis all setup at different bays to wash cars as they came in, later accepting freewill donations to benefit not only Jim’s headstone, but other things as well.
Volleyball Coach Sara Hegerle says while it’s unknown how well the event will turnout, they’re just grateful they can give back to the community and honor Jim Christ.
The fundraiser collected over $4500 yesterday.
