VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The state of North Dakota has mandated that Social Service offices be reduced to 19 zones except for the four largest counties in the state.
Barnes County Commissioner John Froehlich is on the subcommittee on social service zoning. He says there are a number of steps to take before the full commission makes a final decision. Froehlich gave a few details about the ongoing process involving the Barnes and Stutsman County subcommittee on social service zoning with reporter Steve Urness.
Officials with Stutsman and Barnes County met to discuss the redesign process at the courthouse in Valley City on May 23rd.
The state is mandating a statewide implementation of 19 zones by January 1st of 2021. The largest counties like Cass, Burleigh, Grand Forks and Ward Counties will retain their Social Services offices while the other 49 counties will be bunched into zones.
North Dakota Legislators passed Senate Bill 2124 during the 2019 Legislative Session and it was signed by Governor Burgum. Lawmakers believe the redesign will provide permanent property tax relief in North Dakota. More details are attached below.
