BISMARCK (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High baseball team had to wait an extra day to play in the West Region loser-out game after Friday was washed out due to rain. Once they took the field on Saturday at Shiloh, it was Minot who advanced to the state-qualifier with a 5-4 win.

Minot scored three runs in the first inning with two coming after an error extended the inning. The Jays clipped the lead to 3-1 in the third inning.

Trailing 5-2 heading into the seventh, Jamestown came close to tying the game or taking the lead. A Dawson Douty triple scored Mason Walters after a lead-0ff walk. Right before that, Jeremy Williams struck out after just missing a double down the left field line that landed six inches foul.

Chris Erickson tallied an RBI sac fly to trim the score to 5-4, but a bases-empty ground out ended the game.

Jamestown finished the season 13-12. Minot went on to defeat Mandan to reach the state tournament.
