JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For 49 years, the Fort Seward Wagon Train has entertained and informed, but most importantly, it’s kept the history of the trail alive.

The wagon train will be entering its 50th year this summer on what’s being dubbed the “Golden Legacy Trail” June 23rd through the 29th. It’s expected to be the biggest wagon train held to date.

Lacey Kaiser is the Vice President of the Fort Seward Wagon Train Board.

Kaiser says one of the best parts of the historical wagon train is the amount of returning “pioneers” that will be coming back for the 50th annual ride.

The wagon train encourages participants to dress up and leave the technology behind. Traveling daily over the course of the week, the wagon train is expected to cover a total of between 75 to 85 miles by covered wagon, horse, or walking. The historical ride will also feature history talks over the week.

Kaiser says the event is a great adventure and because of its authenticity, they encourage the participants to leave behind the technology.
