VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash after he lost control of his pickup, hit a power pole, a parked pickup and a power box along 12th Street Northwest before the vehicle came to rest on it’s side shortly after 2am Sunday, May 12th in Valley City.
Valley City Fire and Rescue Crews had to extricate the man from the pickup using the jaws of life at the scene of the crash.
Barnes County Ambulance crews transported the man to a life-flight helicopter at the airport. He was then airlifted to a Fargo Hospital for treatment of serious injuries after the crash. The man suffered serious injuries that are considered to be non-life threatening.
Valley City Electrical Supervisor Marshall Senf said about 25 percent of the city experienced a power bump following the crash and some customers were without power for 15 minutes. But, he said an apartment building along 12th Street Northwest was without power for several hours as crews worked to replace two power poles that snapped off following the impact of the crash.
Members of the Valley City Police Department, Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol and Valley City Fire and Rescue responded to the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
