JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jody Larson says having Spina Bifida hasn’t slowed her down one bit.
Larson recently returned from a group trip to the Grand Canyon. The adventure was organized as a fundraiser for the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) and raise awareness about the birth defect.
Larson says she joined four others, three of them also had Spina Bifida and the other had children who has the defect.
Larson says she and another woman used their wheel chairs to traverse a total of 10 miles below the rim and back.
During the trip, Larson says they learned that the average visitor spends 18 minutes at the Grand Canyon and only 1% of visitors go below the rim. She says they spent an average 8 hours at the Canyon. Another highlight of the trip for Larson was getting up early Sunday to watch the sun rise on the canyon.
Larson says she doesn’t plan on going back again next year and is already looking forward to her next adventure.
