JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The second “bomb cyclone” has struck the area and has prompted closure of several major roadways in North Dakota.
Southeast North Dakota is virtually closed off as a blizzard rages on Thursday afternoon. I-94 from Jamestown to Fargo is closed along with I-29 from Grand Forks all the way to the South Dakota border.
“North Dakota Highway Patrol is encouraging motorist traveling east on I-94 to find overnight accomodations west of Jamestown,” Sergeant Wade Kadrmas reports. “Areas for parking large commercial motor vehicles and overnight lodging accommodations can fill up quickly at the point of a major road closure.”
Anyone traveling is encouraged to find overnight accomodations further away from the closure point to ensure they have a place to stay.
“This also helps relieve traffic congestion once the roadway is re-opened,” the department points out.
Several accidents in the region have been reported so far.
