
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Thursday, students, faculty, staff, and community members packed Vorhees Chapel for the annual University of Jamestown Honors Convocation.
The event recognized students for academic achievement and campus involvement. Upper-classman received awards issued by each department based on academic involvement in their respective field.
The convocation also honored those inducted into national honor societies for various academic disciplines.
UJ President Dr. Polly Peterson awarded the President’s Key to Paul Gibson and Allie Hill. The annual award is given to the highest ranking student(s) in the senior class who have spent all four years and the University of Jamestown.
The University of Jamestown faculty also named Gene Crabtree the Staff Person of the Year. Crabtree is an athletic trainer for the university.
The Society of Alpha Chi named Liz Hunt, Assistant Professor of Communication, as the Professor of the Year. Hunt also serves as the Director of the Character in Leadership program at UJ. Hunt succeeds Dr. John Weinzierl, Assistant Professor of History.
The event also honored the over 300 students to make the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 semester.
