JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is warning of a new high risk registered sex offender that is now residing within the city of Jamestown.

40 year-old Alton Grant Mitzel is currently residing at 1530 6th Avenue SW #15. He is 5’7”, 170 pounds, and American Indian with brown eyes and black hair. He has several alias including Alton Redfox and Tony Redfox.

Mitzel was charged with Gross Sexual Imposition in 2002 when he told a 13 year-old girl, who was a family friend, that she would sleep at his house. Mitzel came home at 5:30 AM, put a knife to the throat of the 13 year-old, and forcibly raped her. Mitzel was terminated from treatment for non-participation and refusing to accept responsibility.

He is currently on Federal Probation.

Mitzel is not currently wanted at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety only and should not increase fear in the community. Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten an offender will be turned over for prosecution.
