LINTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota’s only High School radio station at Linton High School had student representation at the 79th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcast System (IBS) Conference in New York City.

Instructor/Advisor Jay Schmaltz reports that 8 students represented the radio course and returned with 5 Golden Microphone Awards.

“They were Finalists in Best Use of Facebook, Best Use of Instagram, Best Celebrity Interview, Best High School Adviser and were one of 4 Stations picked as a finalist as the Best High School Radio Station in the Nation,” Schmaltz stated.

Schmaltz says the station was up against other High School stations across the US and some have been in existence for nearly 50 years.

“KLHS Radio has only been on the air for 2 years and the radio program continues to grow,” Schmaltz pointed out.

Schmaltz was also runner-up for the honor of High School Radio Adviser of the Year.
