VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The long stretch of cold weather in the region has the Valley City Public Works Department advising residents that if your home has had water pipes freeze up in the past make sure to keep your tap water running at a trickle.
The city is reminding residents to check the temperature of your tap water to make sure it does not go below 35 degrees. If the water temp drops below run your tap at a trickle, if you do, notify the Valley City Public Works Office and they will adjust your bill.
Several Barnes County Rural Water customers are also experiencing water line freeze up due to the cold temperatures and the deep frost this winter. Barnes Rural Water Manager Perry Kapaun said residents should check their water temperature and if it is below 35 degrees. He said to run a trickle of water from your tap daily to avoid the freezing of pipes.
