LINTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several people were injured after a bus was hit from behind on Highway 83 near Linton Friday morning.
The bus was traveling south on Highway 83 and attempting to make a turn into a driveway. A Buick was traveling south as well when it came upon the bus. The bus had it’s 8-way lights activated along with its turn signal and was traveling below 20 MPH. Due to the white out conditions, the Buick was unable to slow or stop to avoid hitting the bus from behind.
The Buick went underneath the bus and became stuck. The Fire Department was called in to extricate the Buick from beneath the bus.
27 year-old Buick driver Alexis Wangler was injured. Bus driver Paul Benedict, 63, as well as bus passengers Hannah Jacob, 18, Adden Schatz, 12, and Robyn Huizenga, 13, and Garrett Huizenga, 11, were also injured. All were transported to the Linton Hospital.
Charges are pending against Wangler in the incident.
