HUNTER, N.D. – Jase Crockett scored 15 points in the second half and Northern Cass used a 16-6 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from Maple Valley for a 64-49 win in Round 1 of the Region 1 Boys Basketball Tournament.
Crockett ended with a game high 23 points and added four assists. He hit all nine of his free throws in the second half. Wrigley Elston had 15 points and seven rebounds. And Connor Jensen had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and he added four assists.
Northern Cass jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game, hitting five of its first six shots. But they cooled off and Maple Valley got hot. The Raiders took the lead 21-20 after scoring the first five points of the second quarter. But the Jaguars would score the next six points top take the lead back and never trailed again.
Grady Karges and Jacob Johnson scored 17 points each to lead the Raiders.
Northern Cass improves top 9-12 and will face third seed Central Cass on Monday March 4th in the quarterfinals of the Region 1 tournament which now moves to the Scheels Center in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex in Fargo.
Maple Valley ends the season 8-13.
