CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Carrington Mayor Tom Erdmann says the city is doing what they can to keep Shopko open in the Central City.
It was reported earlier this month that the Carrington Shopko would be closing on May 12th after the company declared bankruptcy and announced they would shutting down 70% of all of their stores. Mayor Erdmann says the city and others have done what they can so far to change the decision.

Erdmann says liquidation sales are currently underway. He says an online petition received more than 1,600 signatures, but says the company has decided to close.

In the Carrington Public Works, Erdmann says they’ve had a busy month so far after dealing with multiple water main breaks.

Erdmann says residents patience were appreciated as they dealt with no water for around 3 days. He says contractors came in and fixed the breaks as quickly as they could.

Erdmann says they’re also seeking a Public Works Director and interested applicants can apply at City Hall.
Mayor Erdmann says they’re also set to interview for the open Chief of Police position in Carrington.

Erdmann says at the airport, the new hanger is constructed and is a great addition to the airport.
