(NewsDakota.com) – Authorities had to deploy spike strips Monday evening to stop a low-speed pursuit of a vehicle that began on Interstate 94 near Jamestown.

Responding to a report of an erratic driver, Jamestown Police attempted to pull over an eastbound Jeep Cherokee on Interstate 94 just west of Jamestown. Police chief Scott Edinger says the driver refused to pull over and the pursuit continued more than 25 miles east on Interstate at speeds near 45 miles per hour.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol then deployed a spike strip near mile marker 282, deflating both of the vehicle’s front tires and stopping the vehicle, says Edinger.

The driver, a 43-year-old Wisconsin man, is being charged with eluding officers, and more charges are possible.

Jamestown Police, the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Highway Patrol all responded to the incident.
