N.D. (AP) – North Dakota is now the nation’s second-largest oil producing state, trailing only Texas. North Dakota surpassed Alaska for the Number Two spot in March. The state produced more than 575,000 barrels of oil a day.

RUGBY, N.D. (AP) – A Belcourt man with five drunken driving convictions is pleading not guilty to manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges. Prosecutors say 37-year-old Linus Bercier the Third was drunk and driving more than 100 miles per hour in 2010 when he crashed, killing a 46-year-old relative. He faces up to 15 years in prison if he’s convicted of both charges.

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) – The Three Affiliated Tribes in North Dakota is trying to get federal help to build homes for employees at a new health center in New Town. The federally funded $20 million Elbowoods Memorial Health Center opened last October. It has more than 60 workers.

STARKWEATHER, N.D. (AP) – Three Starkweather brothers have finished a massive 20,000-mile bicycle trip from Alaska to Argentina. Nathan, Isaiah and Davig Berg began their journey in late August. They rode to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.
