CITY (NewsDakota.com)–Two Valley City State University Vikings were named to the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) All-Conference team.
Preston Jensen (Jr., Valley City, ND, left) and Ronnie Blagg (Jr., La Puente, CA) were named to the second team All-AII list.
Jensen, named to the team as an outfielder, finished fifth in the AII in batting, hitting .385 with seven doubles and 16 RBI. Blagg was selected as a pitcher, finishing second in the AII with a 2.31 ERA, allowing just 16 earned runs in 62.1 innings of work.
Blagg was a first-team all Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) selection, with Jensen earning two all-DAC selections, a first-team selection as an outfielder, and a second-team selection as a pitcher.
Brenden Shearer (Jr., Winnipeg, MB), Kyle Skinner (Sr., Seattle, WA), Scott Stephenson (Jr., Ontario, CA), and Ryan Shaw (Jr., Cardale, SK) all made second-team all-DAC status for the Vikings. Stephenson won a gold-glove award as an outfielder.
Valley City State finished 12-33 this season, winning just six of their last 35 games after a five-game winning streak in March.
