(NewsDakota.com) The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion baseball team will be on the road for the start of the 2012 Region I playoffs one week from Monday, after falling short at a chance at home-field advantage by losing to the Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page Spartans 9-6 on Friday afternoon.

The Loboes (7-5) were down 3-0 going to the third inning thanks in part to a lead-off home run by Jake Ihry off of Zach Stemen to start the bottom of the first. However the Loboes in the third were able to come back and tie the game on a couple of doubles.

The Spartans (5-4) once again broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth with four runs on four hits and two Loboe errors that chased Stemen out of the game, but the Loboes narrowed it down to a one-run deficit in the fifth as Quinn Alo had his best offensive game of the year with a three-run home run that was preceded by a double. LLM would be no closer, as Garrett Erickson hit a solo blast in the bottom of the inning to seal the deal.

Stemen took the loss, ending the regular season going three and a third innings, surrendering four runs on eight hits. Taylor Foss was the winning pitcher for the Spartans, going four and a third, allowing six runs on five hits.

Next up for the Loboes is a waiting game to see who and where they will play in the opening round of the Region I Tournament which starts on May 21. Coverage can be heard on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com
