service for Mary Schneider, 107, of Ashley will be 10:30 am, Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley.     

Burial will be in the Ellendale City Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 6:30 pm Wednesday with visitation from 4-6:30 pm at the funeral home.             

Mary died May 6, 2012 at the Ashley Medical Center.                

Mary Brandenburger, daughter of Martin and Susanna (Retzlaff) Brandenburger was born November 20, 1904 in Spring Valley Township near Forbes, ND.  This is where she grew up while attending country school.  She helped on the family homestead.

Mary was united in marriage to John Schneider on February 5, 1925.  They made their home on a farm in Spring Valley Township in far western Dickey County.  They built there farm up over 38 years and raised small grains and cattle.  In 1963, they sold their farm to their son, Earl.  They continued to live on the farm.  John died in 1979.  She moved into Ashley in 1981.

During her retirement she enjoyed quilting with others, crocheting and playing cards especially pinochle.  She loved visiting with her family and friends.  Mary lived on her own for 105 years before moving into the Ashley Nursing Home. 

 Mary was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Ashley Senior Center, Sunshine Club and had been a volunteer at the Ashley Nursing Home.   

Mary is survived by one daughter, Shirley (LeRoy) Fleming of Ashley, one son, Earl (Gladys) Schneider of Ashley, one daughter-in-law, Ella Schneider of Forbes, three grandchildren, Lois Schneider, Llewellyn (Susan) Schneider and Robyn (Joshua) Schock, three great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Boehm, Luke Schneider and Spencer Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Edwin and an infant, 11 brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, Kenneth Weszner and one infant granddaughter, Kari Schneider. 

Honorary Casketbearers will be Spencer Schneider, Jennifer Boehm, Mark and Michael Rerick, Jeff Rerick and Elizabeth Rerick.    

Casketbearers will be Lois Schneider, Llewellyn Schneider, Susan Schneider, Luke Schneider, Joshua Schock and Robyn Schock.    

The organist will be Jean Schnabel and there will be special music by Clyde Wetzel, Bonnie Feil and Robyn Schock.
