(NewsDakota.com) The Central Cass High School baseball team had heard what has happened to Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page, Northern Cass and Enderlin/Maple Valley this season when they played at Townsend Field in LaMoure.
On Tuesday, the Squirrels allowed the LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes to come close to coming back, but held off another late LLM rally for a 7-3 victory.
Central Cass (5-4 Region I) jumped on the Loboes in the third and fourth innings, picking up all seven runs on six hits; including a double and a triple in the fourth. LLM (7-4) was limited to just two hits until the fifth; when the hometown boys brought across three runs on three hits. LLM had a chance in the seventh, but only added one run and stranded the bases loaded to end the game.
Tanner Carlson took the loss for the Loboes, going four innings, allowing all seven runs on eight hits, two walks and one strikeout to fall to 1-2 in region games.
LLM currently sits in third place in Region I, and their last game of the regular season in region play is Friday at Hope against the Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page Spartans. First pitch is at 4:30, with coverage starting at 4:15 on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com
