JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Cleveland man is facing several charges after his nephews came forward more than 20 years later to report his sexual assaults.

Jerome Greenshields, 56, is facing a misdemeanor count of sexual assault, a felony count of sexual assault, and a felony count of gross sexual imposition. Court documents say one of Greenshields’ nephews contacted the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department to report the incidents.

In the documents, Greenshield is accused of sexually assaulting his nephew between 3-4 times while he worked on the family farm in 1997. He was 15 years-old when the incidents occurred.

When contacted by Stutsman County Detective Jason Falk, Greenshield stated he “knew it probably wasn’t right” and that it wasn’t his nephew’s fault. He informed the detective that he had also been molested as a child by his older brother.

In a separate incident involving a different nephew in 2001, Greenshields reportedly stuck his hand inside his nephew’s pants. The nephew informed Deputy FAlk that he had never told anyone about the incident. He was 14 at the time of the incident.

He will have his initial appearance Wednesday at 1:15 PM.
