Ruth Venhuizen, age 81, of Valley City, ND, died Monday, January 28th at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 1st at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service all at the funeral home chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery near Wimbledon, ND.

Ruth Helen Vos, the daughter of Ernest and Gertrude (Wiebenga) Vos, was born November 18, 1937 in Morrison, IL. Ruth grew up and attended school in Morrison, IL and graduated from Morrison High School. On November 12, 1965 she married Eugene Venhuizen in Morrison. In 1966, the couple moved to Hannaford, ND where they farmed until their retirement in 1989. The couple moved to Valley City, ND in 1999 where Eugene passed away later that same year. Ruth became a resident of the Sheyenne Care Center in 2016. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and was great at making baked goods.

Ruth is survived by her two sons, Robert (Vickie) Venhuizen, Tea, SD and Mike Venhuizen, Valley City, ND; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Derek, Brandon and Kyle Venhuizen, all Tea, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers William and Richard Vos.
