JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown woman has been charged following several dog attacks.

22 year-old Mariah Bermel is charged with keeping a dangerous dog and not vaccinating it for rabies. She’s also been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Police report that her pitbull had bitten or attacked five people since September 2018.

Bermel told police the animal was a service dog and she wanted to shoot the dog so it would stop biting people. Jamestown Police alerted the public January 25th after the dog bit someone, resulting in serious injuries.

At least three people were bit in the 10 days leading up to the dog’s capture.
