CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Carrington will searching for a new Chief of Police.

During the recent city council meeting, it was reported that Police Chief Christopher Fabec had officially resigned his post. Mayor Tom Erdmann says Fabec had originally been approved for a 30 day leave without pay in 2018 for a family emergency in Pennsylvania.

Mayor Erdmann says they’ll keep applications open through the end of January and then begin the interview process. He says this leaves the department a little short staffed.

Chief Fabec joined the Carrington Police Department from Pennsylvania in July 2018 when he became the Chief of Police.

Mayor Erdmann also reports that the inert landfill roughly 4 miles out of Carrington has been completed.

Erdmann says all the lines from the lagoon have also been hauled out. For the Fire Department, Mayor Erdmann says the Carrington Fire Department recently received some major funding through two grants.

Erdmann says the department already has one and will have the next five by the end of February.
