HASTINGS, Neb. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s basketball opened 2019 with a victory at No. 15 Hastings Wednesday evening, defeating the Broncos 64-55.

HOW IT HAPPENED
*The Jimmies took a 21-12 lead after the first quarter, jumping out to an early 9-2 advantage.
*Neither team had much success offensively in the second period, with UJ scoring 10 points and Hastings seven.
*The Broncos connected on just 1-of-17 shots in the second, but were down only 12 (31-19) at the half.
*Hastings cut the Jamestown lead to 42-35 with 3:14 in the third; however, Jamestown finished the quarter on a 12-1 run to take an 18-point lead into the final quarter.
*UJ went cold from the field in the final 10 minutes, shooting just 10 percent (1-for-10). The Broncos got within six points, 60-54, with 1:04 left, but four free throws by the Jimmies closed out the win.

*Allison Jablonsky (JR/Blaine, Minn.) had 17 points and seven rebounds in her first action of the season.
*Paige Schmidt (JR/Tappen, ND) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with 10 points.
*Jenna Doyle (SR/Princeton, MN) added eight points, four rebounds, and blocked three shots.
*UJ turned the ball over a season-high 30 times.

*The Broncos’ 55 points was a season-low.
*Emma Grenfell and Sophia Pankratz both had 10 points and five steals.
*Halle Plumbtree had eight rebounds and six points off the bench.
*Hastings lost for the fourth straight game.
