VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Gary Retterath is retiring as the Fire Chief in Valley City. He served 16 years as chief and 43 as a fire fighter for the city and rural fire district.

He talked about that first fire call in Valley City more than 43 years ago.

Long time firefighter Scott Magnuson will become the new Fire Chief for Valley City and Rural Fire District starting in January of 2019.

A retirement open house for Gary Retterath will be held on Friday, January 4 in the Valley City Fire Hall from 2pm to 5pm. Wish Gary all the best in his retirement.
