JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Central Valley Health came before the City Public Works Committee Tuesday afternoon to gain approval for a grant to continue the Safe Routes to School Project in the year 2020.
City Engineer Travis Dillman informed the committee that Robin Iszler and the Central Valley Health (CVH) staff had been working on the grant application to make areas around the schools safer for kids.
Dillman says with the new grant application, they would look to increase safety near the middle school and all elementary schools.
Dillman says the overall project sits at around $595,0000, but the grant award sits at $290,000. He says the Jamestown Public School Board had agreed to pick up whatever cost was left at the city use money for special assessment. While the project is just conceptual right now, Dillman says once approved, there will be more design talks to determine the best use of the grant money to make the middle school safer.
Dillman made sure to give Robin Iszler major credit for the grant application. The committee unanimously approved recommending the grant application.
