JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been almost a week since the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign began and currently, there’s a desperate need for more volunteers to man the kettles.
The Jamestown Salvation Army has increased their fundraising goal to $168,000 after having achieved their goal in 2017. Major Tim Nauta says they have a lot of need for their services in the community and the funds raised this winter will go towards their year round operation.
Nauta says a lot of what they do is behind the scenes and the Salvation Army acts almost as a “safety net” for those who need their many different services.
Major Nauta says an opportunity has come around for a $5,500 match from an anonymous donor this Friday and Saturday. All funds received at kettle’s in Jamestown will be matched up to that amount. Right now because of the lack of volunteers, Nauta fears they may not be able to fully utilize that match.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for a shift by visiting registertoring.com or by calling 701-252-0290.
